FEATURED POETRY: Wasteful Mockery by Audriana G.
Wasteful Mockery
Everyone is dead, there is no one left
All the trees can weep, I feel nothing else
Only the pain inside that's burning in me
Haunted by the jingle of the deathly bells
"Avenge us, or destroy us.
This is your destiny
Set the flame now, hit the first blow
Put an end to this wasteful mockery."
I tried to break out, I tried to calm down
Nothing worked so I drifted off to sleep
But even in my head the words kept coming
Their frightful words are not for the lonely sheep
I have had too much, I need to break down
The weight on my shoulders slowly killing me
I grab a knife and then watch the blood prance down
The puddle of death, despair, and misery
I am the wind, here but forgotten
Their voices come and never seem to fade
With their snake-like tongues, they come closer and
They sing the same old song, my death's serenade:
"Avenge us, or destroy us.
This is your destiny
Set the flame now, hit the first blow
Put an end to this wasteful mockery
You are this wasteful mockery."
